A pregnant 19-year-old model was killed during a photoshoot on railway tracks after being hit by a train.
Fredzania "Zanie" Thompson had enlisted a friend to take snapshots of her standing at the intersection of two tracks in Navasota last Friday when an oncoming train barrelled into her.
Ms Thompson, who would have turned 20 on Monday, was also engaged to her 25-year-old boyfriend, Darnell Chatman, who said the couple had recently found out they were expecting their first child.
Ms Thompson was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Witnesses said that despite both trains blowing their horns, she did not see the oncoming train behind her.
Her mother told The Eagle that her daughter was a stellar athlete in high school but had dreamed of becoming a successful model.
"That's definitely what she wanted to do. It's what she had started to do the day she was deceased,” Stevenson said. "I'm very hurt about the situation because she was so young, but this is what she wanted.
In honor of Ms Thompson's memory, friends and family have created a memorial in her honor, and her friends have shared one of the last photos taken of her from that day - showing Thompson smiling wide while posing on the tracks
